This area of Southwest Virginia offers numerous activities for everyone. Golf, hiking, biking, camping, swimming, walking, and horseback riding.
 
  

Golf
  The county offers 3 public and 3 private golf courses for the golf enthusiast.

There are several World Class Golf Courses located across the area. Visit the Washington County Chamber of Commerce for information on some of these courses.
 

Outdoor Recreation

There are numerous parks and recreation sites in the area to enjoy hiking, biking, camping, swimming, walking and horseback riding.

Grayson Highlands State Park offers hiking trails and camping with some of the states most wonderful views.

Virginia Creeper Trail available for walking, hiking, biking, and horseback riding. No motorized vehicles are allowed though.

George Washington & Jefferson National Forests offer wilderness beauty and hiking and camping areas.

Mount Rogers National Recreation Area also offers the wilderness experience with camp grounds and hiking trails.

Part of The Appalachian Trail is located in the area for short day hikes, weekend excursions, or longer adventures. Appalachian Trail Days are also held in Damascus, Virginia each spring.

Washington County Park offers swimming, boat ramps and picnic areas for day use. This park is located on 55 acres on South Holston Lake. A small fee is charged. Contact the Washington County Parks and Recreation Department at (276)676-6212.

South Holston Lake offers year round boating and fishing for the outdoor type. Summer offers skiing and swimming as well as fishing. Located on the border of Tennessee and Virginia, this lake covers 7,580 acres.

Clear Creek Park provides picnic and boating facilities situated on a several acre high dam lake. There are no fees for using this park. Contact the Washington County Recreation Department at (276)676-6212 for more information.

The Harry Coomes Recreation Center provides both indoor and outdoor activities as well as provides meeting rooms for banquets, seminars and meetings. People of all ages will enjoy the many supervised activities provided by the Center. The Center is open days, evenings and weekends. For more information, please contact the Harry L. Clinch Mountain Wildlife Management Area offers camping, hiking, hunting and trout fishing in one of the areas stocked trout streams.

Hidden Valley Wildlife Management Area offers hiking, fishing and primitive camping high atop Clinch Mountain.
